Welcome to Courteous Canine, where we are committed to providing you with the best dog obedience training and manners training. We are all about positive reinforcement. Whether you think your dog will excel at pet therapy, trick training, or needs to relax this page has a class for you. We work with dogs of any age, from puppies to mature adult dogs.
8-Week AKC Canine Good Citizen and Part 1 Pet Therapy Prep
Complete preparation for the Canine Good Citizen and also begin foundation handling for Pet Therapy. This class combines the AKC Canine Good Citizen behaviors with pet therapy related behaviors, an ideal dovetail. Dogs will be exposed to walk-bys with other dogs, wheel chairs, walkers and other unique situations. Please note that completing this class does not automatically mean you pass the CGC test, our testers will abide by AKC rules for testing. Every dog is an individual, so depending on the dog this class may need to be repeated. Finally, we welcome all dogs to the class providing they are free of reactivity toward humans and other dogs. This class will cover 7 weeks of preparation for the CGC test which will be given on week 8. We look forward to having you. This class is also required prior to taking the AKC Advanced CGC and Urban CGC group class which functions as the second 8-Week class for pet therapy prep.

Class Type: Group. Maximum 6 dogs
Term: 8 weeks, 1 hour-long class per week the last week is the test!
Prerequisite: Completion of Puppy Kindergarten or Adult Dog Manners. Completion of group classes at other schools is accepted for the prerequisite. Dogs must be 6 months in order to test and they test at end of part 1; therefore dogs must be at least 6-months old upon the completion of the course.
ADVANCED CGC AND PET THERAPY PREP PART 2
Prerequisite: Canine Good Citizen Class Pet Therapy Part 1
Would You and Your Dog Enjoy Helping Others with Special Needs? Come join Courteous Canine, Inc. to become a volunteer doing Animal-Assisted Interactions in your community. This 8-week one hour session program, teaches participants important pet therapy concepts along side of prepping teams for the AKC Advanced Canine Good Citizen program, including seven weeks of prep and the Advanced CGC test on week 8. Teams graduating from this program will be put in touch with pet therapy organizations to be tested and officially licensed for Pet Therapy. There is no fee associated with being tested– but some programs require an online class. All organizations for pet therapy certification will require a annual membership fee to cover the cost of insuring teams.
Rally Obedience Novice Level 1
Rally O is a competitive sport that is based on dog agility courses with obedience skills. At each station on the course, dogs perform obedience behaviors, and just like agility, the contestants are timed and judged. The fastest and most accurate dog wins! This novice level class introduces you to the basics of this sport with an emphasis on fun and perfection using the empowerment training method.
Dogs who complete the novice Rally O class and want to take their game to a new level can also enroll in our Advanced/Excellent Rally O classes.

Really Reliable Coming When Called
“Come here . . .Come Here . . . Come HERE . . . COME HERE!”
If this sounds like you, it might be time for our Really Reliable Coming When Called class. Whether your dog has an average coming when called cue, or whether you have a serious squirrel chasing problem, this class will help you improve your dog’s coming when called cue. This course involves a lot of games and fun to have your furry friend happily running back to you when called.

Dog Trick Training
For Fame, Fun, or Impress!
Your dog can sit, lay down, shake, and rollover. Now what? If you’d like to teach your young or old dog new tricks, this is the class for you. We customize this class to teach tricks that your dog has a natural aptitude for, or the stunts that you specifically desire. We introduce you and your dog to the three learning games that help you teach your dog to learn behaviors. We cover tricks using the dog’s entire body, feet, or mouth. The creativity of this class is only limited by your imagination!
This class is great preparation for pet therapy. The tricks learned here will really bow-wow their audiences at nursing homes and hospitals!

Trick Training: Movement to Music
Whether you want to impress your friends, family or entertain as part of pet therapy, this group class is for you! In this 6 week group class you will learn a short routine to music, combining fun tricks to create a mini performance. Using simple behaviors like loose leash walking on both sides of your body, sit, down and tricks, your instructor will help you learn a “routine” to music. What could be more fun than combining dogs, tricks, and music? Sign up today!

Term: 6 weeks, 1 hour-long class per week
Prerequisite: Completion of Puppy Kindergarten or Basic Dog Manners. Completion of group classes at other schools is accepted for the prerequisite.
Unruly to Relaxed
Come join the RELAXATION with this group class limited to only six dogs which teaches your dog to relax. Relaxation is a behavior that is incompatible with barking, pacing, and many other unwanted behaviors. Learn how to teach your dog to relax in this four week class of where each session lasts 30-minutes. Dogs enrolled in this class come to class exercised so that they are tired and ready to relax. Your instructor will coach you on how to touch and interact with your dog to promote calm behaviors. Your dog will learn to assume relaxing positions and learn to breathe deeply, and relax muscles.

Term: 4 weeks, 1/2 hour-long class per week
Prerequisite: Completion of Puppy Kindergarten or Adult Dog Manners. Completion of group classes at other schools is accepted for the prerequisite.
Boredom Busters & Brain Games
Whether you have an active puppy or adolescent dog or are looking for rainy day activities, this class is for you! Expose your dog to games and learn how to play them at home. This class provides you with the tools to increase fun and reduce boredom!
This class is a 90-minute workshop for dogs and puppies of all ages and skill levels! Dogs should be friendly with people and other dogs.

Prerequisite: Completion of Puppy Kindergarten or Adult Dog Manners. Completion of group classes at other schools is accepted for the prerequisite.
Low Stress Handling and Vet Visits
Going to the vet or groomer does not have to be stressful! Keep yourself, your dog, vet, and groomer happy and stress free by attending this one time 90-minute group class. Limited to a maximum of 6 dogs, where you learn simple things you can do to reduce stress, and increase fun for all parties when it comes to handling, vet visits and grooming.

Next Level Dog Obedience
Fun Games Group Class
Join this group class which is for dog and human friendly dogs that need to take their obedience and manners to the next level. This class offers proofing, self-control and duration dog training skills in a fun group games setting. Students will play team games, relay and many other games to increase and gain skills. Dogs must already know to sit, down, come, stay, leave it and loose leash walking to enroll in this class.

RAIN POLICY
For private training and group instruction that is held outdoors, we will make every attempt to contact students at least two hours before if we are canceling class. Classes are held during light rain, if there is lightning classes are cancelled. If you see lightning during your class, please let your instructor know immediately.
If you don’t hear from your instructor, your class will occur as scheduled.
VACCINE POLICY
To participate in class, your dog must have received:
- Distemper/Parvo (core combination)
- Leptospirosis
- Rabies
- Bordetella
- Canine Influenza
If your dog is not eligible for these vaccines, we will also accept a letter of exemption from your veterinarian due to your dog’s age or medical status.
Alexandra is a phenomenal trainer, I have seen significant improvement in my dogs behavior.
